Athletic Therapy West Island
To help keep you in the game.
In Canada, a Certified Athletic Therapist (CAT©) is a health care practitioner skilled in the prevention, identification, intervention, management and treatment of emergency, acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions and injuries to the physically active. Such injuries and/or conditions are sustained either at work or through involvement in recreational or sporting activities.
There are three main areas of patient care and service that an Athletic Therapist may provide:
Treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries.
2-Sports First Responder Coverage:
Recognition, evaluation and emergency care of acute urgent injuries such as concussion management, wound care, spinals, fractures, etc. Attempt to prevent further injury by implementing proper pre-event warm-up and prophylactic/taping support.
Implementing strength, conditioning and flexibility exercise programs for individual, sport-specific or group needs.
We offer practical Taping/Prophylactic Support Seminars for Coaches, Managers and Parents throughout the year to learn basic taping techniques for when an athletic therapist is not available on-site. Techniques such as ankle and wrist tapings are covered.
