Functional Training

A1 Fitness Academy, located next to Cappino, is 12,000 sq. ft. training facility, the biggest athlete tailored gym in the city. A1, which stands for Athletes First, is tailored to provide the essential programming and workout to achieve their performance goals. With 50 yards of indoor turf, athletes can work on speed and agility. The field turf is ‘cleat-friendly’ and allows any type of athlete to take advantage of training in game cleats. The facility has a pull up and squat rig of over 50ft, free weights, Olympic platforms, and all other essential functional training equipment necessary for athletes of all ages to get the best training necessary.

A1 Fitness Academy tailors all of its programs toward functional movements. Functional training when applied correctly has a huge impact on the body’s ability to increase motor patterns. The endless variety of movements and high intensity that our trainers provide ensures that the athlete’s body will be able to move in all six degrees of freedom with ease, allowing these athletes to perform simple and complex movements more efficiently. Over the last decade, many athletes have limited the body to machine guided movements, which forces an athlete to move in a single plane of motion, instead of several.

Our coaches construct progressive training routines in a team environment. The goal is to have athletes move through workouts that will directly translate into higher performance during game play.

Focus is to have athletes follow the 10 domains of fitness.

  • Cardiovascular/respiratory endurance
  • Stamina
  • Strength
  • Flexibility
  • Power
  • Speed
  • Agility
  • Accuracy
  • Balance
  • Coordination

Sports specific workouts will allow athletes to master the above aspects of fitness in a safe environment with qualified strength and conditioning coaching staff. Proper technique, injury prevention, and mobility will allow our athletes to get the most out of our functional training programming.
