Ahh, Valentine’s Day!

Personally, I am not fond of any holiday that has been hijacked by Hallmark.  I think romance is important, showing your love to your partner is important, and treating them to nice little surprises is important……….but not just one day a year.  We should not need a day to do all of these lovely things.  Instead, we should be thoughtful every day of the year.  Every day of the year, ask yourself: “What have I said or done today to make my partner feel the love?” Of course, if you show your love infrequently, then Valentine’s Day creates monumental expectations.  This would be the one day, your love-deprived partner will want you to think of some grand romantic gesture.  So wouldn’t it be so much simpler and less costly to just do and say a small nicety every single day.  Many have said, “but she/he knows I love her/him”, in protest to the accusation from a partner who feels unappreciated, undesired and ultimately unloved.  Every one of us, whether male or female, wants to feel appreciated, loved and desired.  We want it to be obvious.  We don’t want to question, nor guess how our partner feels.  So make a resolution this Valentine’s Day, that you will treat each day of the year as Valentine’s Day – a day to show your love and appreciation.
